🚀 Roadmap Update: Next Steps

Published: 15 July 2025

We've been busy improving Rate My Medical Training. Recent updates include:

  • Filter and compare reviews by hospital, specialty, and training grade
  • Track performance year-by-year with our new "Rating by Year" feature
  • Answer more in-depth, specialty-specific questions for even richer insights, like theatre time for surgeons, or clinic and procedure opportunities for medics
  • Squashed a ton of bugs so everything is smoother and faster

Our next steps (in no specific order) are:

  • 📧 Verified comments (likely using NHS email verification for now)
  • 🛡️ Moderated comments system
  • 🔍 Filtering and sorting capabilities (by location, ratings, etc.)

Looking a bit further ahead (within the year):

  • 🏥 Advanced filtering - find the best hospitals in a deanery for specific specialties, or filter by ratings, location, and other criteria
  • 📊 Data reliability scoring - we'll show you how trustworthy each rating is by analysing various quality signals (like ReviewMeta does for Amazon reviews)
  • ⚖️ Compare tool - just like when you select deaneries for training, you'll be able to compare different combinations of rotations (up to 6) side-by-side with a drag and drop interface, helping you evaluate the overall training experience rather than individual rotations in isolation

📢 Project Update + Roadmap

Published: 10 May 2025

Thanks so much for all your feedback so far, and for taking the time to submit your ratings. We've now reached 150 reviews! A few common themes have come up in the comments:

  • Yeah, things are a little buggy at the moment when it comes to submitting reviews.
We'll be prioritising fixes for these issues.
  • A few people have mentioned interest in a free text comment system, and it's definitely on the cards.
There are a few things holding it back at the moment — mainly the need to redesign parts of the system, build a moderation panel, and find a few people to help keep things manageable. It's something we'd love to add once the foundations are more stable.
  • Searching by hospital and specialty is coming soon (tm).
This is high on our list once the core system is running smoothly. Some of the more advanced filters, like ranking the best hospitals in a deanery for a particular specialty, might end up being part of a premium version to help keep the project sustainable.
  • We can see how the UI for picking specialties to rate might be a bit confusing.
We'll take a look at this and see what can be done to make it clearer.
